Jimmy & Amanda Got Married In A Museum...

Amanda & Jimmy Morocco Jr - American Visionary Art Museum - July 7, 2012 - Baltimore MD

Most requested song: "Cupid Shuffle"

This past weekend I played a really cool wedding...on such a hot day.  It was a fun crowd, cool cake (from Charm City Cakes) and a really interesting venue.  It was held on the 3rd floor of the American Visionary Art Museum.  It was nicely decorated and they used scrabble letters for place card, some uplighting and Japanese lanterns  hung for lighting.   I received this email from Jimmy the next day:

"Thank you so much Flounder! You rocked it last night man, It really was perfect, the guest loved the music and couldn't stop raving about how much fun it was dancing to it. It was a privilege to have you provide the entertainment and fun for our reception. Thanks for everything!"

Congratulations Jimmy & Amanda...it was fun working with you and a pleasure playing your receptions!

Why Do I DJ For A Living?

My fingers are numb because I've been working non-stop on my new Wedding webpage.  But I am happy because my vision is finally coming to light.  I've been doing the dj thing  a long time, now over 20 years professionally.  I started as a bedroom dj making mixes and then moved on to actual parties and bar/bat mitzvahs.  Eventually I started playing clubs, corporate events, weddings, concerts and a radio mixshow.  I've worked pretty much any type of situation that could require a dj...sadly I even dj'd a funeral for a dear friend.

I've watched the entertainment industry evolve over the 20 years to what it is today and my love for it has never died.  Over the years, I never wanted to be the cheesey dj with the mullet who didn't quite "get it."  On the other end of the spectrum...I never wanted to be the sleezy, too cool for the room dj either.  There's nothing wrong if you like either one of those...I just always thought that I could make it better.  I just wanted to be the fun guy with the best "toys" putting on the best show.

Don't let this happen at your wedding, party or event...hire DJ Flounder!

That is what I strive to be every time I play.  I want to evoke positive emotion into you.  I want you to have the time of your life...no matter if we are at an auto show or a wedding.  I actually feel the energy from people when I play.  This isn't some cosmic hippy stuff I'm writing...it's the absolute truth.  I love hearing people scream with joy when their favorite song comes on, or an impromptu dance circle breaks out, or a bride crying with happiness while she dances with her father at her wedding.  We are making memories and I want to create them with you.

I don't do this for the money, the women (I have one) or the "fame."  I do this because I love music, people and entertaining.  I would not trade it for the world.  Please check out the new wedding section of DJFlounder.com and let's create memories together!

The Great American Festival Happened

June 30, 2012 - The Great American Festival - National Harbor

Had a great time spinning at the first Great American Festival at National Harbor.  It was over 100 degrees outside but people still showed up to party!  I love playing these events..I'm all over the place with my music.  I jumped around from house, dubstep, rock, old school hip hop, bmore, electro and whatever else I wanted to play to keep the crowd moving.  Thanks to Rich Shea and Dave Lindy for having me out this year and thanks for everyone for coming out.  Hope to see you next year!
